Free Learn to Swim Offered in Pukalani and Kahului

Registration begins today for free Learn to Swim Classes offered by the County of Maui, Department of Parks and Recreation, Aquatics Division.

The department announced a schedule of classes being offered at the Upcountry Aquatic Center in Puklani and at the Kokua Pool in Kahului.

Upcountry Classes will be held from Sept. 8 to Oct. 19 at the following times:

• Parent-toddler swim classes are on Fridays from 10:30 to 11 a.m.
• Level one swimmers classes are on Saturdays from 10 to 10:45 a.m., and on Mondays from 3 to 3:45 p.m.
• Level two swimmers classes are on Sundays from 12:15 p.m. to 1 p.m.

Registration for the Pukalani classes will be held at the Upcountry Aquatic Center on Aug. 23 to 25, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except for Sundays when the pool will be open from noon to 4:30 p.m.

The Kahului classes will be held every Thursday, from Sept. 12 to Oct. 17 at the following times:

• Adult Learn to Swim class from noon to 1 p.m.
• The level one swimmers class from 3 to 3:45 p.m.

Registration for the Kahului classes will be held at the Kokua Pool on Aug. 29, and Sept. 5, on both days from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Participants for both locations must register in person with Pool Guard Stacy Dugan-Wood. Space for all classes is limited and on a first come first serve basis.
