A California man was airlifted from the Kailua area of East Maui after falling approximately 15-feet at a pool in the area often referred to as the “Bamboo Forest,” officials said.
The incident was reported at 2:59 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, at the “second pool” off of the Hāna Highway near Mile-6.5, said Maui Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga.
Fire personnel from Pāʻia and rescue crews from Kahului responded to the scene, along with the Department’s Air-1 helicopter.
The 35-year-old man from Los Angeles, California suffered a laceration to his head in the fall, and was transported to the Maui Memorial Medical Center in stable condition, said FS Chief Mainaga.
