A council committee has reviewed results of an online parks survey that sought public input into the department’s facilities and programs.
County officials say a total of 462 people participated in the survey over an 8-week period.
The results were reviewed by the council’s Economic Development, Energy, Agriculture and Recreation Committee, and will be posted at a later date on the County of Maui website.
“Our county’s community centers, popular PALS program, swimming, soccer, basketball, and other equally great programs and sports all contribute to the wellness of our community,” said councilmember Don Guzman, chair of the EAR Committee.
He continued in a press release statement saying, “I’m looking forward to my committee working with the Parks Department to help address our growing need for more parks, facilities and programs as well as the difficulties the public identified in the survey.”
Officials say the results will be used during budget deliberations to help determine priorities for the next fiscal year. They will also be used to address future needs and concerns identified by the public.
