The ex-boyfriend of a missing Maui woman was arrested again, this time on felony charges, officials tell Maui Now.
Steven Capobianco was arrested on Thursday, May 15, by Sheriff’s deputies outside of Wailuku District Court on Maui where he was scheduled to make an appearance on theft charges.
The initial charges stemmed from a burglary reported on Sept. 19, 2013, when an unknown person or persons unlawfully entered a residence on ʻEono Place in Haʻikū.
According to earlier reports, police said a Dell laptop computer valued at $200, a 20-inch iMac laptop computer valued at $1,400, and jewelry were among the items stolen from within.
Before leaving the premises, police say the responsible(s) also deflated the tires to one vehicle and slashed the tires of another vehicle, causing an estimated $800 in damage.
The District Court, which handles misdemeanor and traffic cases, dismissed the case on their level, and new felony charges were filed in Circuit Court.
Sheriffs executed the new warrant and had set Capobianco’s bail at $25,000.
Capobianco has been identified as a person of interest in the unrelated homicide investigation involving his ex-girlfriend Charli Scott. In March, police reclassified the case as a homicide investigation.
