Job seekers have an opportunity to find new employment and explore career paths at the upcoming Summer Job Fair hosted by Pacific Media Group.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday, May 24, at the Queen Ka‘ahumanu Shopping Center in Kahului.
“The job fair is happening the exact same week as public high school graduations on Maui so we expect a good turnout,” said event organizer Charly Espina-Takahama.
Participants this weekend include: Starwood Vacation Ownership; County of Maui; Hawai‘i Job Corps; Savers; American Savings Bank; AFLAC; IBS School of Cosmetology & Massage; Mandara Spa; Nā Hōkū; Bayada Home Health Care; Bubba Gump Shrimp Company; Kay Jewelers; Gamestop; Independent Arbonne Consultant; Foodland; Level Premium Lifestyle; Crazy Shirts; Jamba Juice; Jeans Warehouse; Enterprise Holdings; Sears; Aloha International Employment; Macy’s; Workforce Development/Work Source Maui; Wyndham Vacation Ownership Maui; and Panda Express.
The event is now in its 14th year, and is one of two PMG Job Fairs hosted each year during the winter and summer months.
It comes as the Maui County’s unemployment rate fell to 4.6%  in April, down from the 4.9% reported a month earlier, and the 4.8% recorded at the same time last year. That according to new information released by the state Department of Labor and Industrial Relations.
According to the Department report, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for the state was 4.4% in April. The last time the rate was that low was in August of 2008, nearly six years ago.
