UPDATE: Suspect Arrested in Stabbing at Waipuʻilani Park

Maui police have since arrested and charged Robert Kimo Prout, 49, for alleged connection to a stabbing reported on Sunday afternoon at Waipuʻilani Park in Kīhei.
Police say Prout has no local address.
According to police reports, Prout was arrested at around 11:04 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 26, 2015, and was later charged with second degree attempted murder and two counts of contempt of court.
He was being held at the Wailuku Police Station in lieu of $1,000,350 bail at last report.
Police say the victim, a 36-year-old Kahului man, remains at the hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries.

Maui police have launched an attempted murder investigation into a stabbing reported at Waipuʻilani Park in Kīhei at around 3:55 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2015.
Police say a 36-year-old Kahului man was transported to the Maui Memorial Medical Center with critical life-threatening injuries.
According to police reports, a preliminary investigation identified the male suspect, who fled the scene prior to police arrival.
Police say investigators canvassed the area for the suspect; however, his current whereabouts as of Monday morning, Oct. 26, remain unknown.
Police continue to make checks for the suspect and say they are following up on all leads. They have since initiated a second degree attempted murder investigation.
This was the second stabbing incident reported on Maui in recent days. On Friday, Oct. 23, 2015, Maui police responded a report of a stabbing at a residence in Nāpili.
