Jake Shimabukuro Tonight at The MACC
Renowned for his super-fast and complex finger work, ‘ukulele wizard Jake Shimabukuro will return to the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s Castle Theater on Friday, Dec. 11, with special guests from the Maui Songwriters Festival as part of its Ho‘onanea Series.
Shimabukuro has redefined the meaning of music that comes from the ‘ukulele.
There is no doubt that Jake embodies the heart and soul of ‘ukulele music, as no one else can wring the emotion, beauty, meaning and thrills out of four strings like he can.
Though Shimabukuro is versatile with all the Hawaiian standards, he is constantly expanding his repertoire to combine elements of jazz, blues, funk, rock, bluegrass, classical, folk and flamenco─and it all works amazingly well in his talented hands.
Shimabukuro is now a worldwide phenomenon: he’s been declared a musical “hero” by Rolling Stone, has collaborated with and won accolades from diverse stars in the music world, wowed audiences on world tours and TV … and has even played for the Queen of England.
He will be joined by guests from the Maui Songwriters Festival for this special concert.
The show begins at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $12, $40* and $55* plus applicable fees (*10% MACC member discount and 50% discount for keiki 12 and under).
