Landslide to Result in Temporary Closure of Hāna Highway
The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation advises motorists that the Hāna Highway (Route 360) will be closed at Mile 6.1 near the Nāʻiliʻilihāʻele Stream Bridge, on Friday, March 11, 2016 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., as part of a slope mobilization project.
Crews have removed material from the hillside after a minor landslide occurred on Wednesday, March 9, 2016. State officials say crews will assess the area and remove any additional debris during the closure.
Electronic message boards will be posted to inform motorists of the planned closure.
HDOT advises the community to plan ahead and adjust their commutes to avoid this location during the closure.
Roadwork is weather permitting.
