Maui Electric Rummage Sale to Benefit Maui United Way
Maui Electric is hosting its annual Rummage Sale benefitting Maui United Way on Saturday, June 18, from 8 to 11:30 a.m., at its Kahului auditorium located at 210 W. Kamehameha Avenue.
The public is also welcome to donate any new or gently used household items for the sale starting on Wednesday, June 15, to Friday, June 17, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The public can call 872-3216 to coordinate drop-offs during this time.
All proceeds from the sale will benefit Maui United Way, a non-profit organization that raises and invests corporate and individual donations in more than 37 health and human services partner agencies and programs to benefit the Maui County community.
“The funds raised by companies like Maui Electric enables our organization to help identify and tackle some of our community’s most serious challenges,” said Maui United Way’s President and Chief Professional Officer Laksmi Abraham. “Working with Maui Electric over the years is a true demonstration of our ongoing efforts to strengthen our community and enrich people’s lives through caring partnerships.”
Last year, Maui Electric and its employees donated $62,500 to the Maui United Way. In addition to the rummage sale, the company’s employees donate their own funds, organize other fundraisers throughout the year, and coordinate the popular Keiki Tilapia Fishing Tournament that attracts over 600 keiki and their families in Kā‘anapali.
“With a 95 year history of serving Maui, Moloka‘i and Lāna‘i, our Maui Electric employees are firm believers in taking care of the people in their communities,” said Sharon Suzuki, Maui Electric president. “And, supporting Maui United Way does just that as this organization works to improve lives, motivates people to help others and increases resources to meet needs every day.”
