Police Surveillance of Twin Falls Nets Car Break-In Arrest

Marcus Hersom of Wailuku was arrested during police surveillance of the Twin Falls area in Haʻikū, following numerous reports of recent car break-ins at the location [1].

On Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017, members of the Maui Police Department’s Crime Reduction Unit were assigned to the area.

While there, police say a male was observed reaching into a rental vehicle after breaking a window. When officers approached, police say the male suspect attempted to flee on foot, but was quickly apprehended.

A vehicle the male came in was also stopped at the scene.  Police say the vehicle was being operated by a 30-year-old Wailuku woman who had three juvenile passengers with her at the time.

The male was identified as Hersom who is 35-years-old.  He was arrested for: first degree unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle; fourth degree criminal property damage; resisting arrest; and second degree endangering the welfare of a minor. He was released pending further investigation on all charges.

The female driver of the vehicle and her children were released at the scene pending further investigation.
