Maui Bus. PC: Wendy Osher.

Starting Sunday, July 1, the Maui Bus will begin a new Waiheʻe Villager route #8 and will change service on Kula Villager route #39, according to the County Department of Transportation.

The new Waiheʻe Villager route #8 will start at Queen Kaʻahumanu Center, with select stops in Kahului, Wailuku and Waiheʻe. The route will operate five times a day every three hours, starting at 7:15 a.m., with the last bus departing at 7:15 p.m.

Also beginning July 1, Kula Villager route #39 is eliminating service to Makawao. Instead, it will add direct service to Kahului, under a new name of Kula Islander route #39. Kula Islander will start at 5:56 a.m. in Kēōkea, operating every three hours, with the last bus at 8:56 p.m.

Maui Bus fares are $2 per boarding or $4 per daily pass. Monthly passes are also available.

The Kula Islander and Waihee Villager bus schedule and maps are posted on the county website, www.mauicounty.gov/bus. Riders can track their bus in real time and get arrival predictions using the Maui Bus app, available on iOS, Android and mauibus.org.
