Maui Electric will be doing upgrades to electrical equipment tonight that will require a road closure at Alamaha Street and Wākea Avenue, including the right and left turn lanes from Alamaha onto Wākea.

Work consists of upgrading a utility pole along Wākea Ave. and restringing power lines.  Work hours are from 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6, to 3 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 7.

For safety reasons, the Alamaha Street lanes onto Wākea Avenue will be closed to traffic while crews safely work as quickly as possible to complete the upgrades. Traffic control will be on site and should an emergency arise, emergency vehicles will continue to have access to the area.
