The Coral Reef Alliance hosts a volunteer Native Planting Day in West Maui on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019 from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Volunteers will plant native plants to reduce erosion and sediment reaching coral reefs. Participants will learn about:

  • the use of vetiver grass to mitigate sediment runoff;
  • the ridge to reef restoration and ahupuaʻa management; and
  • native plants and watershed restoration.

Volunteers should meet at 275 Oka Kope Road in Lahaina.  Snacks and water will be provided, but guests should bring their own sack lunch, water bottle, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, rain gear and closed-toe shoes.

To RSVP, email [email protected] or call (808) 633-6029 for questions and to reserve a spot.
