Japanese Cultural Group to Host 4th Annual Kite Festival
The Japanese Cultural Society of Maui will host its 4th annual Kite Festival on Aug. 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Keopuolani Park Soccer Field.
According to the organization, Japanese kite-flying dates back to the 16th century and is intended to pray for good health and a bright future.
The event is free and open to the public. Anyone interested in attending is welcomed to bring their own kites of any size and style.
Kite kits will also be sold at the event for $5. Prizes will be awarded to the best kite flyers and the best-decorated kites.
