Proceeds of Gridiron Show Help Fund Media Internships

The Society of Professional Journalists’ Hawai‘i Chapter presents wrapped this year’s edition of “Gridiron 2019: This is Not a Drill.” The performances were held Thursday, Aug. 29 through Saturday, Aug. 31, at Diamond Head Theatre.

This year’s show featured approximately 28 songs and sketches making fun of recent news events in Hawai‘i.

The sold-out performances featured a cast of more than 50 journalists, former journalists and public relations professionals.

Among those taking part in this year’s show was Maui Now Meteorologist Malika Dudley.

Other featured performers included: Gordon Y.K. Pang, Bill Sage, Māhealani Richardson, Ben Gutierrez, Lisa Kubota, Ashley Nagaoka, Robbie Dingeman, Keoki Kerr, Chad Blair, Paul Drewes, Maleko McDonnell, Donalyn Dela Cruz, Cathy Foy, Shannon Winpenny, Lance Rae, Jodi Leong, Vicki Viotti, Jenn Boneza, Sara Mattison, Lorin Eleni Gill and Ryan Kalei Tsuji. Actor/performer Kimee Balmilero directed the show.

All proceeds from the every-other-year event fund paid journalism internships at a variety of media outlets across Hawai‘i.
