Small Craft Advisory in Effect for Maʻalaea Bay
The National Weather Service has issued a small craft advisory for Maʻalaea Bay.
According to the NWS, a small craft advisory means that wind speeds of 25 to 33 knots and/or seas 10 feet or greater could endanger small boats or fishing vessels.
Other areas under the advisory include the Pailolo Channel, Alenuihaha Channel, as well as leeward and southeast waters off Hawaiʻi Island.
The NWS is urging inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller vessels, to avoid navigating these conditions.
The advisory is expected to remain in effect until 6 p.m. Hawaiʻi Standard Time on Tuesday.
