Desiree “Dez” Inea Keahi-Broad, 49, of Hilo, passed away on May 4, 2020. She was born on Feb. 8, 1971 in Honolulu, HI. She was a Homemaker. A member of Glad Tidings Church, and Halau Na Pua O’ Uluhaimalama.

Services will be held at a later day.

Desiree is survived by husband Ernest Broad of Hilo; Sons Jordan “Big J” (Mariah) Keahi of Hilo, Dayson-John “Va’a” (Tashia) Keahi-Broad of Hilo; daughters Justice “Sega” Keahi-Broad of Henderson, NV, Dayna-Jade “Lagi” (Chris) Keahi-Broad-Cabagbag of Hilo; Brothers Shannon Keahi of Hilo, Dylan (Lani) Keahi of TX, Dana Nakamoto of Mt. View; sisters Nobilee (Joey) Keahi-Oliveira of Hilo, Jasmine Ne of Mt. View, Roberta Pinnow of Pahoa, Romona (Aaron) Ferriera of Pahoa, Sharla (Jaye) Hayashida-Laga of Mililani; grandchildren Nezzaryah Keahi-Broad-Cabagbag, Alana-Jade Keahi-Broad-Cabagbag; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

February 3, 1956 – May 7, 2020

Dawn Kinue Matsushita Mijo 64, of Wailuku, Maui, passed away at home on May 7, 2020, with her husband at her side. She was born on Feb. 3, 1956, in Wailuku, Maui.

Dawn attended H.P. Baldwin High School, Maui Community College and the University of Hawai’i. She graduated with a Bachelors of Education degree in elementary education. She taught at Kualapuʻu, Hāna, Kamehameha III, Haiku, and Kahului Elementary schools. Dawn retired in 2016 after 37 years of service. She was an active member in the Alpha Delta Kappa sorority for Educators.

Dawn loved music, golf, watching sports on tv and shopping.

Dawn was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Mabel Matsushita. She is survived by her husband, Gerald; sister, Susan (Howard) Ito; and nephew, Mackenzie Ito.

Howard A. Kina, 73, of Hilo, passed away on May 7, 2020 at Pohai Malama. He was born on April 12, 1947 in Hawaiʻi. He was a stock clerk at KTA. He was a in the US Navy, and a Vietnam Veteran.

Private services held

Howard is survived by brothers Alfred (Patsy) Kina, George (Mary) Kina, Dick (Lisa) Kina; sister Helen (Tom) Kennedy; numerous nephews and nieces.

Arrangement by Ballard Family Mortuary Hilo.

October 20, 1969 – May 8, 2020

Keith Keali’i Frias, 50, of Haʻikū Maui, passed away on May 8, 2020, at Maui Memorial Medical Center. He was born on Oct. 20, 1969 in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi.

Keith loved fishing, diving and spending time with family & friends. He was predeceased by his father, Alva Frias, Jr. He is survived by his mother, Katherine Frias; children, Thomas Frias, Wesley Frias, Sadie Frias; siblings, Brian Frias, Renee Frias, Scott (Charlene) Frias, Brandon Frias, Caitlin Frias; and grandson, Silas Ciftci.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, a celebration of life will be held at a later time.

Autumn Ann Edelmann, 38, of Kailua Kona, died May 9, 2020, in Kailua Kona. She was born Nov. 15, 1981, in New Jersey. Autumn was a graduate of Konawaena High School and she was employed by Safeway.

She is survived by mother Trudy (Terry Bensch) Edelmann of Kailua Kona; father Robert Edelmann (predeceased) and brother Kirk Edelmann of Kailua Kona.

Private services were held.

Jose Quiocho

May 27, 1939 – May 14, 2020

Jose Villaruz Quiocho, 80, of Kahului, Maui passed away on May 14, 2020 in Wailuku. He was born on May 27, 1939 in the Philippines.

Jose is survived by his sons, Jose (Grace) Quiocho Jr., Armando (Eva) Quiocho, Philip (Lisa) Quiocho, Jovito (Maria) Quiocho; siblings, Citas (Eddie) Balagtas, Carmelita Quiocho, Agrifino (Rose) Quiocho; grandchildren, Jason (Chanteu) Quiocho, Jonathan (Crystal) Quiocho, Jose Grecko Quiocho, Brandon (Jass) Quiocho, Bradley (Karen) Quiocho, Lovely Joy Quiocho, Kristine Quiocho, Karen Quiocho, Bradley Jose Quiocho , Jayvee Quiocho, Jasper Quiocho, Louise Joi Quiocho, Marielle Jaione Quiocho; and 6 great grandchildren.

He is predeceased by his wife, Consolation Quiocho and daughter, Agnes Quiocho

Private services will be held for Jose at Ballard Family Mortuary.
