Business Spotlight: Maui County Federal Credit Union
Maui County Federal Credit Union was established in 1937 to serve the needs of County, State and Federal employees. In 2016 they expanded eligibility to anyone who lives or works within the County of Maui.
Unlike traditional banks, credit unions are member-owned cooperatives. Gary Fukuroku, President and CEO of Maui County FCU explains, “When you become a member of a credit union, you’re a part owner. We only do business with our shareholders, which are our members.”
Expanding on their commitment to Maui County, Maui County FCU takes pride in their social responsibility efforts. This includes volunteering their services at local nonprofits, and financial education for teens and adults.
Coinciding with International Credit Union Day, Maui County Federal Credit Union is offering a new way for residents to expand their financial literacy. The Zogo app guides users through 300+ financial educational lessons, and is available for free in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
