Hundreds Attend Halloween Drive-Thru Adventure at Maui’s Keōpūolani Park
Hundreds of Maui families enjoyed a safe return to Halloween festivities on Sunday night at Maui Countyʻs Halloween Drive-Thru Adventure at Keōpūolani Regional Park in Kahului.
“Tonightʻs event came straight from the heart of countless volunteers,” said Mayor Michael Victorino. “The community turned out to help make this a magical night for Maui kids. A special thanks to Karla Peters, Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation Director and Budget Director Michele Yoshimura and to their hardworking staffs for planning and organizing this event, in addition to their usual workloads.”
Popular keiki costumes this year were the usual skeletons, ghosts and witches, plus super heroes, animals and funny food costumes including hot dogs, tacos and even a lau lau. Mayor Michael Victorino dressed as Philadelphia Phillies #8 in honor of his son Shane Victorino.
As of 5 p.m., more than 350 cars had entered the Halloween event. Families encountered Alice In Wonderland and the Mad Hatter on stilts, true or false questions with the “Game Show Fanatics,” Maui Classic Cars show, a Pumpkin Patch courtesy of Mahi Pono and Kula Country Farms, and Lahaina Town Action Committeeʻs Monster Maze. Volunteers from Maui’s hospitality industry and many nonprofits came out to help make the night memorable for families.
Employees from the Office of the Mayor and Office of the Maui County Council donated and packed thousands of treat bags. Maui Police officers and Maui Firefighters helped parents properly secure kids into baby and booster seats before leaving.
