Maui’s Caires lands in football kicking camp winner’s circle
A Maui student athlete entered the winner’s circle during a national football kicking competition that attracted more than 100 of the nation’s top high school kickers.
Eli Kamakani Caires of Upcountry, Maui voyaged to the winner circle for his performance at the invitational underclassmen Chris Sailer’s Football Kicking Camp held at Notre Dame High-school in Northern California this past weekend.
Caires, an invitee, won the kickoff competition for longest kickoff and longest hang-time. He also finished as a Top 2 field goal kicker in the final competition just missing shy right from 40 plus yards for his underclassmen group.
Eli will be entering Kamehameha Schools as a freshman this season and also plays free safety for football.
