Lobster-Fest to Benefit Wailuku Rotary Club
By Vanessa Wolf
This Sunday, Feb. 23 is the annual Lobster-Fest event.
Held in the MACC’s Yokouchi Pavillion, the New Orleans-themed feast benefits the Wailuku Rotary Club and offers music, an auction and – of course – lobster.
The Dixieland-style band Philip G. Smith and the Gentlemen of Jazz (featuring the vocals of Gina Martinelli) will be on hand to provide entertainment.
Auction items such as a Rainsong 12-string graphite guitar, a Guitarmasterworks (it’s all one word: we checked) classical guitar and a deluxe wind farm tour will be available to bid on.
Beverages including French Quarter Hurricanes will be available for purchase to help wash down the spread of stuffed lobster tail, lobster quesadillas, creole lobster salad and “so much more.”
Try as we might, attempts to nail down the specifics of the “so much more” were unsuccessful.
However, one can imagine you might find dirty rice, cornbread, jambalaya or a po’ boy or two, but in all honesty we’re making that up.
Gates open at 12:30 p.m. and the event starts at 1 p.m. Tickets are $100 per person.

Meanwhile, for those who want to start their Southern feasting immediately, the event’s caterer, Soup to Nuts in Wailuku, noted that they will be offering a special Cajun Table D’ʹhôte Dinner Menu on both Friday, Feb. 21 and Saturday, Feb. 22.
The special menu offers an appetizer choice of mini crab cakes with tartar sauce, fried dill pickles with smoked chipotle dip or stuffed jalapeños wrapped in bacon.
This is followed by a salad of roasted corn, tomato, red onion, cucumber, red pepper, Cajun spiced croutons & creamy French dressing on a bed of grilled romaine.
For an entrée, choose between bayou-style jambalaya with brown rice, chicken, Andouille, and shrimp; classic gumbo with chicken, Andouille, and shrimp or Cajun macaroni and cheese with four cheeses, Cajun seasoning, and truffle oil.
Crawfish-stuffed French bread will be provided as well.
Dessert is your preference of chocolate bread pudding with bourbon cream sauce or fresh fruit.
The BYOB (beer and wine only, please) meal is $38 per person and reservations are available at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.
