By Maui Now Staff
Maui Now welcomes Kiaora Bohlool to its team of writers as the publication’s feature food writer, culinary scene reporter, and all-around go-to guru of great dining options.
Kiaora comes to Maui Now with more than 15 years of experience as a journalist, broadcaster and writer.
She’s worked as a news anchor/reporter and show host/producer at television stations in California, Oregon, Idaho, Utah and Minnesota.
“But there’s no place like home,” said Kiaora, and being a Maui girl, Kiaora is very happy to be back here.
She said she is also thankful to be part of the Maui Now team, covering one of her undeniably favorite subjects: FOOD!
“With chefs in the family and an appetite that never seems to quit,” Kiaora says she has had a passion and appreciation for all types of food since childhood.
She and her husband opened their own family cafe on the mainland in 2011, so Kiaora has a hands-on understanding of the countless hours, learning and love that go into a running a successful restaurant.
She said she is honored to tell the stories of Maui’s food establishments, chefs and culinary artists, while giving readers the latest details on the local dining scene. In addition to heading up Maui Now’s dining section, she runs her own public relations and video production company, doing voiceover work, on-camera hosting, video producing, commercial writing, editing, marketing and media outreach for independent clients.
Kiaora Bohlool has been a journalist since 1998. With chefs in her family, she has a lifelong appreciation for food; Kiaora and her husband opened their own family cafe on the mainland in 2011. She shares the stories of Maui’s chefs, restaurants and food trucks as a sampling of the culinary scene, to educate readers on new (and old) places to eat, encourage them to support Maui businesses, and empower them to make their own decisions as diners.
