BOH Awards $75K Grant to J. Walter Cameron Center
The Bank of Hawaiʻi Foundation announced it has pledged $75,000 to the J. Walter Cameron Center to support upgrades and renovations to the center.
The J. Walter Cameron Center is a health and human services facility for Maui residents and has been providing office and program space to community organizations and public agencies at below-market rent for more than 40 years.
BOH says the pledge will be paid over three years, and will be used to help with planned upgrades such as solar
panels to increase energy efficiency, enhancements to the wireless network, and an overhaul to the communications systems.
“We are pleased to help the J. Walter Cameron Center utilize 21st-century efficiencies and upgrades so that it can continue as a central umbrella for nonprofits providing health, education and human services to the people of Maui for future generations,” said BOH Foundation President Donna Tanoue.
The center says its mission is “to incubate, support and accelerate social good,” and is currently home to 15 resident agencies that serve more than 30,000 Maui residents each year.
