Two Maui Residents Arrested in Kīhei Cockfight Raid

Members of the Maui Police Department’s Vice Gambling and Morals Unit raided a cockfight held over the weekend off of Kaimana Road near the Hawaiian Cement baseyard in Kīhei. The raid was conducted at around 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2019.

Police say about one hundred people were watching a cockfight in progress. Two men were each holding a gamecock fitted with fighting paraphernalia, according to police reports.

Police arrested: Travis Tolentino, 23, and Shannon Mollena, 44, both of Wailuku. Both were charged with the offenses of second degree cruelty to animals and possession of a gambling device.

Bail was set at $400 each.
