Maui County Unemployment Rate Drops Slightly in July From Month Before

The unemployment rate for the county of Maui in July was 2.6 percent, compared to 3.1 percent the month before, according to the Hawaiʻi Department of Labor and Industrial Relations. 

Despite the slight drop over the month, the unemployment rate of this July matched that of July of last year. 

The unemployment rate for the island of Maui this past July was 2.4 percent, another small decrease from June’s rate of 3.1 percent. 

Moloka’i’s unemployment rate for July was more than double that of Mauiʻs at 6.7 percent, a slight decline from 7.8 percent in June. The island’s July unemployment rate was similar to a year ago.

The unemployment rate for Lānaʻi remained flat in July from last year and the month before at 1.1 percent. 

Statewide, 18,350 residents were unemployed. 

These figures are seasonally adjusted in accordance with the US Bureau of Labor Statistics standards.
