Brush fire along Kūihelani Highway burns 5 acres of fallow agricultural land

A fire along the Kūihelani Highway in Central Maui burned 5 acres of brush before being brought under control on Wednesday. The fire was first reported at 11:21 a.m. on Nov. 13, along the highway, west of Waikō Road.
Firefighters arrived to find an area of brush, approximately 1 acre in size, burning on fallow agricultural land. Firefighters were able to use the existing series of dirt roads to flank and stop the spread of the fire. Forward progress on the fire was stopped by 12:10 p.m.
Units responding to the scene included: Engines 1, 5 and 10; Tankers 10 and 14; Rescue 10; a battalion chief; and a fire investigator.
