Sentry is donating $1 million to three Maui-based nonprofit organizations in recognition of their vital contributions to community well-being, environmental restoration, and the island’s continuing recovery.

Sentry is honoring the players who qualified for The Sentry 2026 by making charitable donations to Maui nonprofits in their names—supporting Maui United Way and player-selected organizations that strengthen the Maui community. This release highlights a total of $120,000 in contributions made on behalf of 60 qualifying players.

Maui United Way, in partnership with Hā Sustainability, invites residents to participate in a short community survey to help prioritize sites for environmental assessment and cleanup through the Maui United Way Environmental Recovery Initiative.

Maui United Way, in partnership with Hā Sustainability and Environmental Science International, invites community members to participate in the next round of workshops for the Maui United Way Environmental Recovery Initiative, a community-first initiative supported by the US Environmental Protection Agency to assess and revitalize underutilized lands in Lahaina, Kahului, and Wailuku. 

Maui United Way organized efforts this past Saturday to protect one Lahainaluna High School and the surrounding community. Sitting upwind of Lahaina town, the campus needed a critical buffer against future wildfires, especially during a season of severe drought.

Maui County Council members have given initial approval to Bill 92, which authorizes the mayor to enter into an agreement with the Federal Bureau of Investigation for Maui County to participate in a Joint Terrorism Task Force, Honolulu Division. Passed Friday, the measure advances to the full Council for second-and-final reading.

Kaibigan ng Lahaina, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the recovery and resilience of Filipino and immigrant communities impacted by the Aug. 8, 2023 wildfires, launched their Padigo Project with their first food distribution event held on June 13, 2025. 

Fifteen nonprofits have been awarded a spot in Maui United Way’s first-ever Kahua Grants Initiative cohort.

Maui County Mayor Richard Bissen today announced a partnership to address critical financing gaps for Lahaina homeowners still rebuilding after the 2023 Maui wildfires. The collaborative effort will create a Deferred Payment Loan Program to support middle-income families who may not qualify for federal disaster recovery funds but continue to face significant financial barriers to reconstruction.

Maui United Way has expanded its support for students attending the temporary Kamehameha III Elementary School in Lahaina, providing additional resources aimed at fostering play, creativity, and healing as the community continues to recover from the 2023 Maui fires.  

Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, the Rotary District 5000 Foundation Maui Fires Relief program distributed $60,000 in Foodland and Walmart gift cards to Maui fire survivors.

This holiday season, Maui United Way, in partnership with Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines and the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement, is spreading the spirit of aloha by reuniting four wildfire survivor families with their island home. These families, displaced to the continent following the devastating 2023 wildfires, now have the chance to return to Maui to celebrate the holidays and visit with their loved ones, experience the warmth of home once again. 

Maui United Way has partnered with federal and state agencies to present a grant workshop series to local nonprofits, grassroots organizations and public/governmental employees to increase success when writing grants to help the people of Maui County.
