Hannah Brown Memorial Impaired Driving Awareness Rally to Kick Off Holiday Enforcement on Maui

The Third Annual Hannah Brown Memorial Impaired Driving Awareness Checkpoint will take place next Wednesday, Nov. 24. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. in front of the Wailuku Police Station as police launch their impaired driving awareness holiday campaign.

Woman Sentenced in Deadly 2019 Drunk Driving Crash that Claimed Life of Maui Teen

A woman convicted of manslaughter in the death of a 19-year-old Maui girl in a drunk driving crash on the Kūihelani Highway two years ago, was sentenced to 10 years of probation and a two year jail term as a condition of that probation. Upon release from custody, Lynsey Jio must work for eight years of her probation doing 2,000 hours of community service, under a plea agreement.

Lynsey Jio, 23, of Kula, Maui was arrested this morning following a grand jury indictment related to a fatal motor vehicle crash that claimed the life 19-year-old Hannah Brown last year on the Kūihelani Highway.
