#maalaea accident

(10:13 a.m., Saturday, April 1, 2023) The Honopiʻilani Highway is now OPEN at Māʻalaea Road. The road was closed earlier due to a motor vehicle accident.

Motorists are advised of a motor vehicle accident on the Honoapiʻilani Highway, reported shortly after 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2017.

Traffic going over the “Pali” section of the Honoapiʻilani Hwy to and from Lahaina is slow moving due to water flowing over the roadway. The road remains OPEN.

At 7 a.m., police closed the Honoapiʻilani Highway (30) in both directions following a fatal motor vehicle accident reported at around 6:50 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016.

(Update: 7:30 p.m., 10.11.16) The Honoapiilani Hwy is now OPEN following a traffic accident reported at around 6:10 p.m.

UPDATE: 4:45 p.m. 11/26/14, Traffic is being diverted to Māʻalaea Road at Honoapiʻilani Hwy. due to an accident near Carl’s Jr. Please drive safely and expect delays.

UPDATE: TRAFFIC ADVISORY MĀʻALAEA: 10:30 a.m. Emergency crews remain on the scene of a rollover accident on the Honoapiʻilani Highway in Māʻalaea. A van was still on its side blocking Lahaina bound traffic at last report.

Maui police say Abel Ventura Jr., 58, and Marlene Debnam, 56, both of Maui, died at the scene. Both were part of a pack of over 50 motorcycles that were riding together as part of an organized St. Patrick’s motorcycle rally.
