Hawaiian Electric reports that power has been restored to all customers in Kula as of 6:40 p.m. The outage was due to a large tree on power lines.

Hawaiian Electric has restored power to one of three main transmission lines serving West Maui and restored service to some customers in Nāpili, Puʻukoliʻi, and Māhinahina where essential public services, such as water pumps, and first responder facilities are located.
Update/restored: 3,000 customers without power in Kīhei on Maui
Hawaiian Electric on Maui is reporting that an estimated 3,000 customers are without power in the Kīhei area of South Maui. Crews have been dispatched to respond. The outage was reported at around 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2023.
Update: 350 still without power; initial outage impacted 6,900 customers from Pukalani to Hāna, Maui
Hawaiian Electric crews are currently working on repairs to damaged electrical equipment to restore a remaining 350 customers from Peʻahi to Nāhiku on Maui. Approximately 6,900 customers from the Pukalani to Hāna area experienced the outage starting around 6:40 a.m.
Power restored to 65,000 on Maui; caused by high-voltage short circuit in Māʻalaea
Hawaiian Electric spokesperson Shayna Decker said a “high-voltage short circuit occurred at a substation in Mā‘alaea, which triggered generating units to trip offline.” She called it a “highly unusual event.”

About 150 customers from Keʻanae to the Nāhiku homestead area are being asked to plan for an extended outage overnight until Tuesday, Feb. 11, after a large tree fell and brought down six spans of power lines along a remote area of East Maui around 3:05 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 10, 2020.
