Hawaiian Electric reports that power has been restored to all customers in Kula as of 6:40 p.m. The outage was due to a large tree on power lines.

Hawaiian Electric has restored power to one of three main transmission lines serving West Maui and restored service to some customers in Nāpili, Puʻukoliʻi, and Māhinahina where essential public services, such as water pumps, and first responder facilities are located.

Hawaiian Electric on Maui is reporting that an estimated 3,000 customers are without power in the Kīhei area of South Maui. Crews have been dispatched to respond. The outage was reported at around 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2023.

Hawaiian Electric crews are currently working on repairs to damaged electrical equipment to restore a remaining 350 customers from Peʻahi to Nāhiku on Maui. Approximately 6,900 customers from the Pukalani to Hāna area experienced the outage starting around 6:40 a.m. 

Hawaiian Electric spokesperson Shayna Decker said a “high-voltage short circuit occurred at a substation in Mā‘alaea, which triggered generating units to trip offline.” She called it a “highly unusual event.”

Efforts Continue to Restore Power to Upcountry Area by This Evening. Pi‘iholo, Olinda, pocket outages asked to prepare for overnight outage.

About 150 customers from Keʻanae to the Nāhiku homestead area are being asked to plan for an extended outage overnight until Tuesday, Feb. 11, after a large tree fell and brought down six spans of power lines along a remote area of East Maui around 3:05 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 10, 2020.

Electrical service has been restored to all customers affected by the widespread outage on Maui, according to Maui Electric.

Maui Electric reports power outages in Wailuku, Spreckelsville, Kū‘au and Waikapū.

Maui Electric is asking approximately 150 remaining customers in the Olinda and Pi‘iholo area as well as small pockets of Ha‘ikū to prepare for an extended outage with the possibility of an overnight outage.

Restoration efforts continue in parts of Haʻikū, Olinda and Piʻiholo this morning to bring back power to a remaining 455 Maui Electric customers.

About 180 customers in the Mānele area of Lānaʻi experienced a power outage around 7:38 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019.

Maui Electric will be doing upgrades to electrical equipment tonight that will require a road closure at Alamaha Street and Wākea Avenue.

Built on land between the Mā‘alaea facility and N. Kīhei Road, the 3-feet-tall basin will span approximately 5 acres and will not be visible from the road.

Maui Electric crews are continuing restoration efforts on Moloka‘i today to bring approximately 700 customers on the East End and Kaluakoi area back online.

There is a power outage reported, affecting various parts of the island including Pūlehu, Makawao, and traffic lights in Central Maui.
