Imagine an outdoor classroom on the green grassy slope of a volcano, where the teacher is on horseback, and the students are learning about the soil, water and plants around them. This imaginary classroom is real—it comes to life once a year during the “Agriculture in the Classroom” Field Trip, an annual educational event put on by Maui County Farm Bureau.

Maui man arrested in connection with improvised explosive device; makes initial court appearance
Robert Francis Dumaran, age 47, of Kahului, Maui, made his initial appearance in United States District Court today. The complaint and affidavit allege that on July 23, 2024, Maui Police Department officers encountered an improvised explosive device (IED) near Lono Ave. in Kahului. The complaint alleges that Dumaran’s fingerprints were recovered from packing tape used to build the IED.
Pukalani Terrace Center to hold 3rd Annual Back-to-School Drive, July 13
Pukalani Terrace Center, in partnership with Boys and Girls Club and Alaska Airlines, will host the third annual Back-to-School Drive on July 13 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The community is encouraged to help give every Upcountry keiki the tools they need to succeed during the ’24-’25 school year by donating school supplies.
Water shutdown affecting Pukalani on Thursday
On Thursday, May 9, 2024, West Maui Construction, Inc. will be performing work on the County’s water system. A portion of homes in the Pukalani area will have their water shut off from approximately 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., according to a notice issued earlier this week.
