Saturday slump? Have Fair Fun Upcountry

Upcountry Fair Maui

Going on now, at the Oskie Rice Arena in Makawao, food, music, friends, family and livestock are gathered. From 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., on Saturday June 11 and Sunday June 12, participate in food demonstrations, activities for adults and children, displays, and auctions.

On Saturday the Whole Foods Market Maui, and Slow Food Maui have partnered to present live demos of “local flavors” by local chefs, in the agricultural tent from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

At 9:30 a.m. Chef Jana McMahon will have a local fruits demonstration, and will be followed by Chef Susan “Teton” Campbell at 10:30 a.m., sharing her love of local vegetables. At 11:30 a.m., Chef Belinda Boling will dish up some of her creations using Kumu Farm corn.

Also on Saturday, the Maui Cattle Company will host a chef series to highlight their grass fed beef, from Chef Justin Pardo of Market Fresh Bistro at 9:30 a.m., and Chef Tylun Pang of the Fairmont Kea Lani at 11:00 a.m.

The Made in Hawai’i tent will feature take home goodies, perfect for omiyage (gift giving). Then when you’re really hungry, go have some chow fun, lumpia, beef and pork plates, BBQ chicken, Indian food, salads and desserts.

The 31st Upcountry Fair is a free event taking place at the Oskie Rice Arena in Makawao, off Olinda Road.
