12 Vehicle Thefts on
Maui Dec. 18 to 24, 2011

There were a dozen vehicle thefts on Maui in the seven day period between December 18 and 24, 2011.

There were four incidents each in Kahului and Kihei; and one incident each in Pukalani, Waiehu, Waihee, and Wailuku.

Four of the stolen vehicles have since been recovered.

The types of vehicles taken include: 2 Toyota Hilux, 2 Ford Rangers, 2 Jeeps, 1 Toyota 4Runner, 1 Toyota SR5, 1 Nissan Maxima, 1 Roketa moped, 1 Ford F250, 1 Toyota Tacoma.

A complete run-down of incidents is listed below:


  • Tuesday, 12/20/11, 5 p.m.:  Kaahumanu Avenue at the Maui Beach Hotel parking lot.  1999 Blue Toyotoa 4Runner.  RECOVERED.
  • Thursday, 12/22/11, 1:48 a.m.:  Hukilike Street.  2001 Black Ford Ranger.  RECOVERED.
  • Wednesday, 12/21/11, 8:30 p.m.:  South Papa Avenue.  1989 White Toyota SR5.  License #: MGR194.
  • Saturday, 12/24/11, 6:45 p.m.: Hoomoku Street.  2000 White Ford Ranger.  License #: MGP556.


  • Friday, 12/23/11, 8 p.m.:  Mokulele Highway.  1991 Black Jeep two0door.  License #: MDB872.
  • Monday, 12/19/11, 8 p.m.:  Uwapo Road at the Kihei Villages.  2006 Gray Nissan Maxima.  License #: PBZ192.
  • Wednesday, 12/21/11, 4 p.m.:  South Kihei Road at the Maui Beach Resort parking lot.  Blue/Silver Kate Roketa moped with green Paradise Moped Rentals sticker in the rear seat area.  Vehicle ID #: LYDTCBPCXB1501459.
  • Saturday, 12/24/11, 9:53 a.m.:  Manini Place.  1990 White Ford F250.  RECOVERED.


  • Wednesday, 12/21/11, 9:30 a.m.:  Akalani Loop.  1982 Blue Toyota Hilux.  License #: MXN031.


  • Monday, 12/19/11, 11:38 p.m.:  Kuu One Hanau Way.  2002 Silver Toyota Tacoma.  License #: DE865.


  • Wednesday, 12/21/11, 11:16 p.m.:  Halewaiu Road at the Waiehu Golf Course.  2011 Jeep Patriot.  RECOVERED.


  • Saturday, 12/24/11, 7 p.m.:  Maluhia Drive,  1988 Blue Toyota Hilux.  License #: HNB792.
