The Red Cross in Maui County is offering a free Disaster Services training series in February for new volunteers on the island of Maui.

All Disaster Services training is provided free of charge. The first step for all new disaster volunteers is to take a series of basic disaster classes. New volunteer candidates must register for and attend the entire series.

The new volunteer training series is being offered on the following dates at the Red Cross Office located at 45 North Market Street, Suite A, in Wailuku:

  • Disaster Services: An Overview: Tuesday, 02/12/13, 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.
  • Shelter Operations: Thursday, 02/14/13, 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.
  • Shelter Simulation: Tuesday, 02/19/13, 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.
  • Disaster Assessment Basics: Thursday, 02/21/13, 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.

To become a volunteer, interested individuals should first register online at http://www.redcross.org/hi/honolulu and submit an application.

When the agency receives your application, staff will then contact interested individuals about the classes listed above and sign you up if you are able to attend.

For more information, call the Maui office at 244-0051.
