Electrical service has been restored to customers in the Kahului airport area as of 3:25 p.m. MECO officials apologized for any inconvenience this situation may have caused and thanked customers for their patience and understanding.

The outage began at 2:07 p.m. and the cause of the outage is still under investigation. Customers affected include the airport and nearby businesses including the rental car companies, Courtyard Marriott and K-Mart. Costco was not affected. As of 2:34 p.m., all customers were restored with the exception of the rental companies located just outside the airport.

At 2:21 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, Maui Electric Company confirmed a power outage in the airport area bounded by Keolani Pl. & laterals. MECO crews are working to identify the cause and restore electrical service as quickly and safely as possible.
