A Horizon container load detached from a semi-trailer truck during Saturday morning traffic, officials said.
The container, which became separated from a Tri-Isle Truck Company semi, came to rest against some trees on the shoulder of Kaʻahumanu Avenue, said Maui Police Lt. William Juan.
The incident was reported at 8:53 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2013, on Kaʻahumanu Avenue, near the Puʻunēnē Avenue intersection.
According to Lt. Juan, the trailer rolled forward and came to rest at a 45-degree angle against trees in the shoulder area, but it did not tip over.
The two outside lanes heading toward ʻĪao Valley were closed for approximately 30 minutes as a crane was used re-attach the trailer to the semi-truck, said Lt. Juan.
No injuries were reported, but the container sustained minor damage in the incident, officials said.
