Maui police say they responded to 29 burglaries, 13 vehicle thefts, and 14 vehicle break-ins in Maui County over a seven day period, between April 13 and 19, 2014. The complete list of locations affected and times in which the incidents occurred are as follows:

29 Maui Burglaries Reported April 13 to 19, 2014:

Haʻikū: 

  • Saturday, April 19, 2014 6:38 p.m.:  Kaupakalua Road, forced entry.

Kahului:

  • Monday, April 14, 2014, 8:14 a.m.:  West Kauaʻi Street, unlawful entry.
  • Tuesday, April 15, 2014, 10:04 a.m.:  Hāna Highway at the Lavish Beauty Boutique, non-residential, forced entry.
  • Wednesday, April 16, 2014, 9:52 a.m.:  South Wākea Avenue at Hale Mahaʻolu ʻElua, unlawful entry.
  • Friday, April 18, 2014, 7:11 a.m.:  Makaliʻi Street, unlawful entry.

Kīhei:

  • Sunday, April 13, 2014, 2:20 p.m.:  East Waipuʻilani Road, forced entry.
  • Sunday, April 13, 2014, 8:02 p.m.:  Uluniu Road at the Kīhei Moana, unlawful entry.
  • Tuesday, April 15, 2014, 9:23 p.m.:  Alulike Street, unlawful entry.

    MPD does not report response times. Even in their Annual Report, response times are absent for all types of calls. Yet no where can I find where the Mayor or Council has ever inquired about response times.

    Low response times reduce crime. For violent crimes, a quick response by law enforcement should be Priority #1.

    But who knows?
