“Life is Sweet” Benefit for Best Buddies of Maui, Nov. 8

A community fundraiser for Best Buddies on Maui features a lineup of celebrity judges and decadent desserts.

The “Life Is Sweet” dessert-tasting event takes place from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at the fountain courtyard of The Shops at Wailea.

Wailea’s top chefs will compete to create a signature dessert for the event, while renowned chefs from south Maui’s resorts and restaurants will prepare samplings of savory entrees for guests.

There is a $50 admission fee, with proceeds benefiting the Best Buddies Maui organization to support local programs that assist developmentally-challenged youth and students with disabilities in island schools.

In addition to dessert tasting and food sampling, the event also features Hawaiian music entertainment, a silent auction, and a VIP wine-tasting party where guests can meet and mingle with the celebrity judges.

Among the celebrities on hand for this year’s event is actress Maureen McCormick, who played “Marcia Brady” in the classic 1970’s television sitcom The Brady Bunch.

Also coming up at The Shops at Wailea are the following events:

  • Wailea on Wednesday: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014.   Complimentary live jazz and blues performance by the eclectic mix of high school and college students and their instructors that make up Nā Aliʻi Big Band with the Chop Suey Jazz Orchestra at the fountain courtyard.
  • Wailea Leʻa: 6:30 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2014.  Robert Cazimero is the featured performer at Wailea Leʻa, a signature monthly event, on the third Wednesday evening of the month. Enjoy complimentary live entertainment by the internationally acclaimed and award-winning Hawaiian entertainer and respected Kumu Hula.
