Kaiser Permanente Hawaiʻi Ranked No. 1 Nationally in Key Health Care Quality Measures

The National Committee for Quality Assurance, a leading independent health care quality organization, ranked Kaiser Permanente Hawaiʻi first in the nation in six measures of health care in its 2016 NCQA Quality Compass report.

The report assesses the performance of 400 commercial health plans throughout the nation in 48 clinical and service measures, including prevention and screening, chronic conditions and behavioral health care.

Kaiser Permanente Hawaiʻi leads the nation in the following areas:
· Counseling for nutrition for children and adolescents
· Counseling for physical activity for children and adolescents
· Pharmacotherapy management of COPD
· Use of imaging studies for low back pain
· Follow-up care for children prescribed ADHD medication
· Metabolic monitoring for children and adolescents on antipsychotics

Locally, Kaiser Permanente ranked No. 1 among health plans in Hawaiʻi in 34 of 48 measures of care, including BMI weight assessment for children and adults, childhood immunizations, breast and cervical cancer screening, controlling high blood pressure, comprehensive diabetes care, smoking cessation and prenatal care.
