Hāna Highway Road Closures Planned for Resurfacing

The state Department of Transportation is conducting road work in the Wailua area of East Maui this week and next.

This week, there is a single lane closure in effect on the Hāna Highway between Waikani Falls at Mile 19, and Kapāʻula Gulch near Mile 24.

The single lane closure is in effect weekdays through Friday, Sept. 26, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. while crews conduct cold planning and asphalt preparation work.

Beginning Monday, Sept. 29, the Maui Police Department reports that there will be intermittent complete closures on the Hāna Highway in the same vicinity due to road resurfacing.

The road closure schedule for Monday Sept. 29, 2014 is as follows:

• 8 to 10 a.m. – closed
• 10 to 11 a.m. – open
• 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. – closed
• 1 to 2 p.m. – open
• 2 to 4 p.m. – closed
• After 4 p.m. – open
