The Hawaiʻi State Department of Education has appointed two senior leaders to strengthen operations and student services across the public school system.

Blue Hawaiian Helicopters, Blue Hawaiian Activities, and LifeSave KuPono partnered with the Maui Food Bank to pack more than 500 food boxes for kūpuna who reside at Hale Mahaolu Senior Residences on Maui, Moloka’i and Lāna’i. 

In Maui County, the seven day average for new daily cases dropped to 121. The countyʻs test positivity rate is now 10.2%. It’s the first time the rate has been reported since the 23.9% on Jan. 15, when a bottleneck in testing temporarily suspended reporting of this metric. 

The Maui Metropolitan Planning Organization is preparing a Master Plan for the West Maui Greenway,  a proposed 25-mile multi-use trail that will one day connect Ukumehame and Līpoa Point. 

There are now 41 people hospitalized in Maui County with COVID-19, the same amount as reported during the height of the delta surge in August 2021.

These unrestricted funds will support MFSS’s Maui County Early Childhood Resource Center to help at least 25 families with up to $200 per month in subsidy for summer child care tuition in a time of need that can alleviate stress and worry for parents and enable them to continue stable, nurturing care for their children, thereby reducing the risk of child abuse and neglect.
