Sweeping $1.8 Billion Infrastructure Improvement Plan Unveiled
State and county leaders joined the governor today in unveiling a sweeping plan to implement $1.8 billion in public infrastructure improvement projects as part of a broader effort to stimulate the economy and create jobs.
All have already been budgeted and approved by the Legislature and are ready to start construction within the next year and a half.
Larger ticket items include the $48 million Lahaina Bypass Phase 1A realignment; $38 million for the Kahului Airport Access Road, $21 million for the Science Building at Maui Community College, and $16 million for improvements to the Maalaea Small Boat Harbor Ferry System.
The public will be able to track the progress of projects at the governor’s website. (Posted: Monday, December 15, 2008 © Wendy Osher, Pacific Radio Group, MauiNOW.com)
