LEGO COMPETITION DEBUTS AT MAUI COUNTY FAIR
Future architects of Maui are invited to the AIA LEGO building competition-a new addition to this year’s Maui County Fair. The event is open to all county fourth and fifth graders with teams of 2-3 students tasked with designing a structure with a LEGO bucket within an hour. The deadline to submit entry forms is Friday September 25th, and the event will be held on Saturday October 3rd.
The AIA LEGO competition will be part of the RoboTech Maui Expo at the 2009 Maui County Fair on Saturday, October 3 at 11am at the Baldwin High School Gym. The competition provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate their architectural talents and creativity, as well as teamwork and work ethic.
Once teams are registered, they can pick up practice LEGO sets immediately at Nishikawa Architects, Inc. in Wailuku. Those who are interested or have any questions may contact Durwin Kiyabu at Nishikawa Architects, 242-6900.

The 87th Maui County Fair will be “Your Invitation to Fun” and held Thursday, October 1 through Sunday, October 4. The highly anticipated annual event brings the entire community together to enjoy an alcohol-free, smoke-free and drug-free family-oriented educational event with plenty of entertainment, delicious local food, and fun! This year especially, the Fair gives the people of Maui County a well-deserved break from the current economic times and provides priceless quality time for family and friends. The Maui County Fair is the primary source of funding for many of Maui’s nonprofit and community organizations. It relies entirely on corporate or local business sponsorships, local donations, and volunteers for support. Corporate Sponsorship packets are also available online for download.
