Walk in voting begins for 1st Congressional District
Today is the first day for walk-in voting for the special election being held for the 1st Congressional District. The election is being conducted to fill the seat that was vacated by U.S. Rep. Neil Abercrombie.
The election is being conducted a s a”Vote-By-Mail” election, but walk-in voting is being made available for those that did not receive a ballot or who prefer to vote in person. Walk-in voting is being conducted from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, May 10, 2010 to Thursday, May 20, 2010 at Honolulu Hale.
Submission of an “Absentee Ballot” application form to receive a ballot packet is not required unless the registered voter transfers into the district after the voter registration deadline or if the voter is unable to receive mail at the address listed in the general county registry. The last day to request absentee mail ballots is Saturday, May 15, 2010.
The last day for ballots to be received is 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 22, 2010. The winner will be announced on May 22.
