Maui, you don’t need to cry over your more popular older sister, Oahu anymore. Sure, it sucks that Honolulu-ites almost always get the acts and entertainers we most want to see. This time we’ve sidestepped the shaft and have a chance to see Steel Pulse, Matisyahu, Rebelution, The Dirty Heads, and the Green, on June 12th, at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center.

The first annual Republik Music Festival will be staged at the MACC’s Amphitheater and Pavilion. The festival will also be held on Oahu at Kaka’ako Beach Park Amphitheater on Saturday, June 11. The Throwdowns will also make an appearance at the show on Oahu.

Tickets are on sale tomorrow at the MACC box office and online at www.mauiarts.org, or call 242-SHOW (7469). Tickets are $39.50 in advance and $40 on the day of the show. Or, walk in and purchase tickets at these local retailers: Request Music in Wailuku, Hard Rock Café in Lahaina, Old Lahaina Book Emporium in Lahaina, and the Green Banana Internet Café in Pa’ia.
