A Flash Flood Watch has been extended for Maui County through Tuesday afternoon.

Forecasters from the National Weather Service say an unstable atmosphere with lots of moisture will bring heavy rains and a slight chance of thunderstorms to parts of the state, increasing the threat of flooding.

Rainfall and runoff can make driving conditions hazardous due to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action.  Motorists and pedestrians should not cross fast flowing or rising water in their vehicle or on foot.

A flood warning was extended for Kauai until 9:30 a.m. due to ongoing wet weather conditions.  At 6 a.m., rain gauges at the Hanalei River remained elevated and the Hanalei River Bridge remained closed.
