The High Surf ADVISORY for Maui’s north shore issued by the National Weather Service in Honolulu on Sunday, February 5 has been replaced by a High Surf WARNING, which will stay in effect until 6 p.m. on Thursday, February 9.

A High Surf Warning means that beach-goers are urged to stay out of the water and away from the shore to avoid being compromised by hazardous waves and rip currents.

Surf heights on the North Shore are expected to reach 18-22 feet on Tuesday and will rise to 25-35 feet, peaking on Wednesday.

Coastal run up is also expected early on Wednesday and Thursday morning.

Wave heights will diminish throughout Thursday.
