Living Healthy Workshop Offered at Kaiser Maui Lani
By Maui Now Staff
The County of Maui Department of Housing and Human Concerns Office on Aging will sponsor a healthy living workshop beginning Monday, June 18, entitled “Better Choices…Better Health.”
The workshop will provide practical information, tools and support to people of all ages who are interested in incorporating healthier habits into their lives. The sessions will also help individuals with chronic conditions better manage their health.
The six-class format focuses on learning and implementing practical skills used to stay healthy and control symptoms through relaxation, nutrition, improved communication skills, medication management, exercise and more.
Over the course of the program, participants develop achievable “action plans” aimed at leading to positive changes and greater confidence.
The workshop series runs on six consecutive Mondays from 9 to 11:30 a.m., beginning June 18 at Kaiser Maui Lani Conference Room at 55 Maui Lani Parkway in Wailuku.
Participants will receive “Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions, 3rd Edition,” and an audio relaxation CD, “Time for Healing”.
The cost is $10 for individuals 60 and older, and $35 for those under 60. Scholarships are available for anyone under 60 experiencing financial hardship.
Advance registration is required as space is limited to 14 participants per class.
