Maui Economic Opportunity is seeking to hire qualified para-transit drivers for its senior and limited-mobility transportation programs, officials announced today.

MEO chief executive, Lyn McNeff, said “This is an excellent opportunity to be employed and serve the community at the same time.”

“Almost since its earliest days, MEO has had a transportation component and our wheel chair accessible transportation came about from direct community advocacy for the service,” said McNeff in a press release.

According to McNeff, the agency was granted full operational control of the para-transit bus service on July 1, 2013. Since then, MEO officials have been working to bring staffing up to full levels.

“The former grantee did not initially downsize and it has taken additional time for our job opportunities to fully penetrate the potential hiring base,” said McNeff.
