Maui police issued a press release this afternoon saying the ex-boyfriend of a missing Maui woman is not a person of interest at this time.
According to Officer Edith Quintero, with the Maui Police Department’s Community Relations Section, the “department is not confirming information” stated in a broadcast television news report on Jan. 25, regarding Bernard Brown as a person of interest.
According to earlier police reports, authorities stated that Moreira “Mo” Monsalve, 46, was last seen at around 10 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at her ex-boyfriend’s residence in Wailuku.
“Brown is not a person of interest at this time,” said Officer Quintero in a press release statement this afternoon.
According to Quintero, the incident is still classified as a missing person case, and an investigation continues.
Last weekend, family members and friends searched the Polipoli area of Kula on Maui in a coordinated effort to find the missing mother of three.
Another large search was held over this weekend in the Central Maui area.
